Every letter of the alphabet was, initially, a picture representation of a thing or idea? For example, the letter -A

[Greek: alpha. Hebrew: aleph] was an image of a bull's head. Nowadays this form is often referred to as the "ox letter".

As you can see, the image, over time, begins to slant off to the right and eventually will be upside-down. This movement is due primarily to most people being right-handed and well, a little lazy.
